I'm a Maker. I've been one for as long as I can remember. The adults in my life left remnants that were transformed into jewelry from soldering wire, screws, nuts and bolts and high fashion from paper, fabric and yarn. Far-off locals were staged using shoe boxes and other discarded containers and my first novels were written long-hand on odd pieces of paper and stapled together.
I fell in love with the tools that replaced the glue, tape and string. Knitting needles, properly handled, orchestrate masterpieces. Crochet and latch hooks, link materials together based on ideas to create a new dimension. Learning how to operate a sewing machine was my revolution. I was able to make one-of-a-kind clothes that were constructed better than any mass produced duds off the rack.
Because I'm a Maker I am also a hoarder. I will keep "it" - and the its are various - in anticipation of the idea that will surface requiring that particular application. Garages and closets are full with containers and because my mental inventory, is just faulty enough, I find inspiration in a "discovery," while looking for something else.
My current infatuation is my computer - I have no words for the energy I get while using it to create and the unlimited possibiities available with on-demand manufacturing.
An equally important component of creating is disseminating. The purpose of this platform is to revisit past creations that I have made and share future ideas I bring to fruition.
